Rules changed from July 1: The rules related to mobile SIM cards are going to change from July 1. New rules were issued by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on March 15, 2024. These rules will come into force across the country from July 1, 2024. TRAI says that changes in the rules can prevent incidents of fraud. However, this may cause inconvenience to common users.
Changes made in the rules
According to the new rules of TRAI, mobile users who have recently changed their SIM card will not be able to port their mobile number. SIM swapping is called SIM exchange. Actually, in SIM swapping, users ask their telecom operator to replace their old SIM with a new SIM.
Incidents of fraud will be stopped
TRAI says that this new rule will help prevent incidents of fraud. The new rule has been implemented to prevent fraudsters from porting the mobile connection immediately after SIM swapping or switching.
Let us tell you that in recent times, SIM swapping fraud has increased a lot. In this, the fraudsters easily take photos of the PAN card and Aadhaar of the users. After this, they get a new SIM card by making an excuse of losing the mobile phone. After this, the OTP received on your number reaches the fraudsters.
