Shimla, August 30 (HS). A team of four French scientists of INRAE led by Prof. Alison Marie Loconto met Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla here today and discussed the ACROPICS project, which aims to promote ecological agricultural methods like natural farming. The team is on a three-week visit to explore the possibilities of innovative work at Dr. Y.S. Parmar Horticulture and Forestry University located at Nauni in Solan district.
The Governor highlighted the enthusiasm of Himachal Pradesh farmers towards natural farming and said that more than 1.5 lakh farmers of the state have adopted this method. He praised the pioneering efforts of the University in certification and sustainability initiatives and agro-ecology.
The ACROPIX project, funded by the European Commission, involves 15 members from 13 countries. During their visit, the French scientists will interact with university researchers and inspect farms. They will also interact with progressive farmers and natural farming companies to gain insight into the implementation of natural farming methods globally.
