Freight loading of NFR increased by 16.83% in May

Guwahati, June 16 (HS). Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is continuously working day and night to serve its customers and deliver essential commodities to the users on time. NFR is making steady progress in freight loading. NFR loaded 1.034 million tonnes of various commodities in May 2024. This is 16.83 percent more than the same period last year.

NFR Chief Public Relations Officer Sabyasachi Dey on Sunday said that loading of certain commodities in the month of May of the current year has shown significant growth as compared to the corresponding period of last year. During the said month, food grain loading increased by 57.7 per cent, cement loading by 122.2 per cent, POL loading increased by 69.4 per cent, while container loading increased by 33.3 per cent as compared to the corresponding period of last year. Loading of miscellaneous commodities like timber and ballast also registered growth of 66.7 per cent and 38.8 per cent respectively as compared to the corresponding period of last financial year.

In the last two months of this current fiscal i.e. April and May, cement loading grew by 14 per cent, foodgrains by 41.5 per cent, fertilizers by 29.2 per cent, POL by 56.3 per cent and containers by 33.3 per cent. Ultimately, the year-on-year increase in cargo loading reflects the growing economic activities of the region. The progress of cargo loading has generated a significant amount of freight revenue.
