New Delhi: The time has come for crores of women of the country to say goodbye to a life filled with stove smoke. The Central Government’s ambitious ‘Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana 2.0’ has given wings to the dream of clean kitchens of millions of poor families. Under this revolutionary initiative, the government is giving a free LPG gas connection, gas stove and first filled cylinder to every eligible woman. This scheme is now expanding rapidly, so that no needy family is deprived of its benefits.

What is the purpose of this scheme?
The main goal of this scheme is to liberate those rural and poor urban women from smoky life, who still use traditional fuels like wood, coal or cow dung cake for cooking. The smoke emanating from it not only harms the environment but also causes serious respiratory and lung related diseases in women. Who can avail the benefit of this scheme?

• The woman’s family should not already have any LPG gas connection.
• Families living below poverty line (BPL), migrant labourers, SC/ST and other deprived sections are given priority in this scheme.
• The most important thing is that now it does not require much paperwork; Applications are also being accepted on the basis of a self-declaration.

What documents are required for application?
There are some basic documents you should have with you when applying:

• Aadhaar card of the applicant woman.
• Bank account details (photocopy of passbook).
• Proof of residence (like ration card or electricity bill).
• One passport size photograph.

How to apply sitting at home?
In this era of Digital India, the application process has been made very easy. You can apply from your mobile while sitting at home:

1. First of all the official website of Ujjwala Yojana (www.pmuy.gov.in) Go to.
2. Click on the option of ‘Apply for New Ujjwala 2.0 Connection’ on the homepage.
3. Complete the registration with the help of your mobile number and Aadhaar.
4. Fill all the personal information asked in the form correctly and scan and upload the required documents.
5. After verification with OTP, submit the final form.
   The verification process is completed within 15 to 30 days after application and the gas connection is delivered to your home. If you are not comfortable applying online, you can also seek offline help by visiting your nearest gas distributor or CSC (Common Service Centre).
