Hamirpur, July 3 (HS). With the aim of increasing the area of sesame in Kharif, the government has made seeds available in the government seed store to provide free mini kits of sesame to 1500 farmers of Sumerpur block area. The distribution of which has been started from Wednesday.
Due to increase in area under paddy and groundnut, farmers are losing interest in sesame crop. Keeping this in mind, the government has made arrangements for free distribution of seeds to farmers to increase the area under sesame crop. To increase area under sesame crop in the block area, the government has provided free mini seed kits to 1500 farmers.
Vikram Singh, in-charge of the Government Seed Store, said that 2 kg of sesame seeds have come in the mini kit. Its distribution among the farmers has started from Wednesday. He said that the seeds are being provided only to registered farmers. It will be verified after sowing. The production will also be assessed when the crop is ready. Hundreds of farmers from many villages had come to get the seeds on Wednesday.
