Paris, July 26 (HS). France started their campaign with a win by defeating Colombia 3-2 in their first women's football group match at the Paris Olympics on Thursday.
Hosts France got off to a quick start with Marie-Antoinette Katoto giving them the lead in the sixth minute.
Kenza Dali scored a long shot in the 18th minute to give France a 2-0 lead. In the 42nd minute, Katoto scored again to put France ahead 3-0.
Colombia came back after the break and Catalina Usme scored from a penalty kick in the 54th minute to make the score 3-1.
Then in the 64th minute, Manuela Pavey scored the second goal for Colombia and the score became 3-2. However, the home team again showed unity and maintained their lead till the end.
