Lucknow, 13 May (HS). Voting for 13 seats in Uttar Pradesh in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024 started from 7 am today, which will continue till 6 pm. In this phase, 130 candidates including Union Minister Ajay Mishra alias Teni from Lakhimpur Kheri and Akhilesh Yadav from Kannauj and many stalwarts are in the fray. More than two crore 47 lakh voters will decide the electoral fate of these candidates.

Voting in 13 Lok Sabha constituencies in Uttar Pradesh – Shahjahanpur (Reserved), Kheri, Dhaurahara, Sitapur, Hardoi (Reserved), Misrikh (Reserved), Unnao, Farrukhabad, Etawah (Reserved), Kannauj, Kanpur, Akbarpur, Bahraich (Reserved). Started falling. Voting will take place till 6 pm.

2 crore 47 lakh voters will vote

There are 130 candidates in the fray for these 13 Lok Sabha seats, including 16 women and 114 men. There are a total of 02 crore 47 lakh 47 thousand 27 voters in these constituencies. In this, there are 01 crore 31 lakh 82 thousand 341 male voters and 01 crore 15 lakh 63 thousand 739 female voters and 947 third gender voters. Who will use their franchise to elect their public representative.

Akhilesh Yadav, Ajay Teni's reputation at stake

In the fourth phase, Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav and sitting BJP MP Subrata Pathak are face to face from Kannauj in this election field. In Unnao, BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj is facing SP candidate Annu Tandon. Annu Tandon is giving tough competition to Sakshi Maharaj. BJP's Union ministers Ajay Mishra Teni (Kheeri), Rekha Verma (Dhaurahra), Mukesh Rajput (Farrukhabad) and Devendra Singh alias Bhole (Akbarpur) are hoping to win for the third time. While Rajesh Verma is in the race to win from Sitapur for the fifth time.

4,715 critical in 26,588 polling places

There are a total of 26,588 polling booths in the fourth phase of elections, out of which 4,715 are critical. There are 16,334 polling stations. 03 special observers, 13 general observers, 09 police observers and 17 expenditure observers have also been deployed to keep a vigilant eye on the voting.

Apart from this, 2,250 Sector Magistrates, 287 Zonal Magistrates, 111 Static Magistrates and 2,920 Micro Observers have also been deployed. To complete the election process, 6,866 heavy vehicles, 5,879 light vehicles and one lakh five thousand 839 polling personnel have been deployed. 33,149 EVM control units, 33,149 ballot units and 35,644 VV Pats have been prepared for voting.

Extensive arrangements to avoid heat wave

State Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa said that keeping in mind the heat, arrangements for shade, cool drinking water, toilets and signage have been made at the polling booths as long as there is a queue of voters. Chairs and school benches have also been arranged for the elderly, women and disabled people to sit.

Adequate ORS and medical kits have been provided to paramedics and Asha workers. Police and security personnel have been trained to behave courteously and cooperatively with voters. Information about voting percentage will be sent to the media every two hours.
