Four youths from Bangladesh kidnapped in Libya, ransom demanded

Dhaka, March 30 (Hindustan Reporter) Four youths from Bangladesh have been kidnapped in Libya. The kidnappers have demanded a ransom of Taka 10 lakh per youth from their families. The abducted youth include 19-year-old Borhan Uddin, 19-year-old Jabedur Rahim, 20-year-old Naeem Uddin and 22-year-old Mohammad Wasim. All four are residents of Anwara Upazila Raipur Union of Chittagong. This information has been given in the report of Dhaka Tribune.

The victim's family members say that they were sent to Libya in February with the help of Zaheerul Islam of the area. Zaheerul had promised all four a well-paid job in a hospital in Libya. For this a fee of 430,000 taka was charged from each. All four left home for Libya on 16 February.

Saheb Uddin, brother of kidnapped Borhan, says that middleman Zaheerul first took my brother and three other people to Dubai on tourist visa. After reaching there, he handed them over to Mohammad Mizan, a resident of Joypurhat. Mizan snatched their passports and handed them over to a human smuggler a week later.

He said that Zaheerul is a member of the crime gang and if he is arrested, everything will become clear. Jabedur's father Abdur Rahim said the kidnappers were torturing the four in Libya. The kidnappers sent video and audio clips of the torture on Tuesday. In a video message he demanded a ransom of Tk 10 lakh each. For this, the account number of a private bank in Cox's Bazar has been given. Threatened to kill them if ransom is not paid.
