Dhamtari, 6 November (Hindustan Reporter). Four youths who were smuggling ganja in a two-wheeler have been caught. Action has been taken against the accused under various sections of the Narcotics Act.
According to the information, Dhamtari police post Birejhar received information from the informer that two suspicious persons were coming from village Maurikala towards village Kodebode in a red color motorcycle without number plate, illegally transporting the drug ganja. On the information of the informer, the vehicles coming and going near village Alekhunta were being monitored, when the accused were caught smuggling ganja in a two-wheeler. Both of them were carrying plastic sacks. On asking the name and address of both the persons, their names were revealed as Balram Chandrakar and Vikram Baghel, residents of village Anda, police station Anda, district Durg. When asked about the items kept in the sack, he admitted to having ganja in the sack. Ganja was found during search of suspects Valram Chandrakar and Vikram Baghel and two plastic sacks in joint possession of Balram and Vikram Baghel.
The accused told that they were bringing ganja from Orissa and taking it to give to Anil Kumar Thackeray and his associate Mayank Yadav, resident of Bhandara, Maharashtra. Anil Kumar Thackeray and his friend Mayank Yadav were waiting near the dhaba between Abhanpur and Kachna on Old Dhamtari Road. A total of 28 kg of narcotic ganja was found in the joint possession of suspects Balram Chandrakar and Vikam Baghel, 11 kg in two plastic sacks and 17 kg in another sack. Action has been taken against the accused under various sections of the Narcotics Act.
