East Champaran, 30 September (HIST). First Additional District and Sessions Judge Rakesh Kumar, after finding him guilty in the case of kidnapping of a teenage girl, sentenced one accused to four years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000.

In case of non-payment of fine, he will have to undergo additional punishment of three months. The punishment was given to Kundan Kumar, son of Ranjan Prasad, resident of Pataura of Motihari Mufasil police station. The other two named accused, Kundan's mother Meena Devi and maternal uncle Surendra Prasad, were acquitted by the court due to lack of evidence. In this case, the father of the victim girl had registered case number 12/2003 at Motihari Mofussil police station. In which it was said that on January 18, 2003, at around 8 o'clock in the morning, his daughter had gone to bring straw kept in the adjacent garden.

At the same time, Kundan Kumar along with his three companions came in a jeep and started forcibly loading his daughter onto the jeep. When his daughter screamed, the informant and other people of the village ran. But Kundan Kumar fired his gun and forcibly made his daughter sit on the jeep and ran away towards Motihari. When the informant went to ask Kundan's mother, she assured that her daughter would arrive within four to five hours. But the kidnapped girl did not come.

After a lot of effort, the police recovered the girl from Mathiya Jiraat of the city after five days. During the trial of Sessions Case No. 35/2004, Additional Public Prosecutor Ishwar Chand Dubey presented twelve witnesses in the court and presented the prosecution case. After hearing the arguments of both the parties, the judge found him guilty under section 366A of the Indian Penal Code and sentenced him to death.
