Four people were trampled by a thief who was fleeing in a stolen Bolero. Which included two women and two children. Dhuma Manjhi's wife Munia Devi (45), daughter-in-law Vilasi Devi (22), one and a half year old grandson Niranjan Manjhi and Sanjay Manjhi's daughter Roshni Kumari (12) were killed. Apart from this, half a dozen people are also injured. The villagers are adamant on their demand for compensation. The district administration is talking about giving assistance only as per the government provision.

On Wednesday, SDO Anurag Kumar Tiwari said that top officials of the district are also aware of this matter. Gola Circle Officer Samaresh Prasad Bhandari has been entrusted with the responsibility of talking to the villagers. As far as compensation is concerned, compensation can be received only as per government provisions. Apart from this, it is difficult for the villagers to get any help from the district administration at present. Presently the Model Code of Conduct is in force and giving any assurance in this environment would be a violation of the Code of Conduct. Police will register an FIR in this matter and based on that, action will be taken against whoever comes to light. The villagers are being talked to and efforts are being made to persuade them to pick up the dead body soon.

Villagers are raising questions on the role of police

Questions are also being raised by the villagers on the role of the police. On one hand, the police say that the Bolero was stolen from Rajrappa police station premises two days before the incident. The thief who committed this incident is also currently undergoing treatment in the hospital. The villagers are not believing this story of police theft. They allege that the police is trying to save the vehicle owner and the watchman of Rajrappa police station.

There is a gathering of officers in Pipra Jara village of Gola police station for the last 40 hours. Gola zonal officer Samaresh Prasad Bhandari, Gola police station in-charge Abhishek Pratap, Gola Circle Inspector, Rajrappa Inspector and other officers of the block are busy talking to the villagers. Apart from this, top officials of the district are also in constant touch with him. Leaders have also started gathering at the homes of the victim families.
