Four coaches of Chandigarh-Diburgarh Express derailed in Gonda, four dead, 20 injured

Eight coaches of the Chandigarh-Diburgarh Express derailed in Uttar Pradesh's Gonda district on Thursday, killing four people and injuring 20 others, officials said in a statement.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak told reporters that four people died in the accident. Uttar Pradesh Relief Commissioner GS Naveen Kumar said that 20 people were injured in the accident.

Gonda District Magistrate Neha Sharma, who reached the spot, said that eight coaches of the train have derailed. The injured have been admitted to the hospital and rescue operations are underway at the site of the incident.

According to Relief Commissioner Kumar, a medical team of 40 members and 15 ambulances were sent to the spot. As soon as the information about the incident was received, senior officials of the railway and local administration also reached the spot 150 kilometers away from Lucknow.

According to the pilot of the train, the sound of an explosion was heard before the accident. After the claim of loco pilot Tribhuvan, the railway has also started an investigation in terms of conspiracy.

The incident happened at 2.37 pm. This train was going from Chandigarh to Diburgar. In this incident, the AC coach of the train derailed and overturned.

The Railway Ministry has announced compensation for the dead and injured. The Railway Ministry has said that a compensation of Rs 10 lakh has been announced for the families of the deceased, Rs 2.5 lakh for the seriously injured and Rs 50,000 for the minor injured.
