Former star cricketer had a serious accident, his car broke down, retired from cricket last year

Lahiru Thirimane: Former Sri Lankan team captain Lahiru Thirimane has been seriously injured in a car accident on the morning of 14 March. Thirimane's car collided with a mini truck in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. Immediately after the accident, people present nearby admitted Thirimane to a nearby hospital, where his condition is now said to be normal. He was not seriously injured. There was a person in the car with Thirimane who was also taken to the same hospital and has also made a full recovery.

Thirimane was playing in the Legends Cricket Trophy

Lahiru Thirimane is currently playing for the New York Strikers team in the Legends Cricket Trophy. He announced his retirement before the ODI World Cup to be held in 2023, the biggest reason for his decision is the continuous neglect by the team. Thirimane has been a part of the T20 World Cup squad for Sri Lanka three times, including in 2014 when the Sri Lankan team won the T20 trophy.

Thirimane has got a chance to play in 2 ODI World Cups for Sri Lanka. Apart from this, he also led the team in 5 ODI matches. Thirimane has scored 2088 runs with the help of 3 centuries in Tests, apart from this, Thirimane has scored 3164 runs in ODIs, while in T20 Internationals, Thirimane has scored 291 runs.
