The Australian Cricket Board has given a big blow to the former Sri Lankan cricketer. Cricket Australia has imposed a 20-year ban on this former cricketer on charges of misconduct. The Cricket Australia Commission found that Dilip Samaraweera had behaved inappropriately by violating section 2.23 of CA's Code of Conduct.

Due to which Dilip Samaraweera has been banned for 20 years. Long was the assistant coach of Victoria Women and Melbourne Stars WBBL before being appointed senior coach of the Victoria Women's team earlier this year.

Cricket Victoria CEO Nick Cummins criticised Samaraweera's misconduct and said in a statement, “We support the decision taken by the Code of Conduct Commission, which has led to a 20-year ban on Duleep Samaraweera. We believe this behaviour is completely reprehensible.”

International Cricket Career of Samaraweera

Dilip Samaraweera's international cricket career was not very special. He played cricket for Sri Lanka from 1993 to 1995. During this time he played 7 Tests and 5 ODIs for the Sri Lankan cricket team. He scored 211 runs in 7 ODIs. Apart from this, Samaraweera scored only 91 runs in 5 ODIs.
