Islamabad, 24 October (HIST). Bushra Bibi, founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, was released today from Adiala Jail (Rawalpindi Central Jail) in Pakistan's Punjab province. She came out of the jail bars after about nine months.
According to Pakistani newspaper Dawn, he was released from Adiala jail today, a day after the Islamabad High Court approved bail in the Toshakhana case. On January 31 this year, the Islamabad Accountability Court had sentenced Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi to 14 years in jail in the Toshakhana case. He was taken into custody immediately after this.
The federal probe agency had accused the couple of possessing an expensive jewelery set (a necklace, earrings, bracelets and rings) gifted by a foreign leader at a low price. It was alleged in the allegation that this caused huge loss to the government treasury.
Islamabad High Court had approved the bail plea of Bushra Bibi on 23 October. Today Special Judge (Central) Shahrukh Arjumand issued orders for the release of Bushra Bibi. Bushra Bibi's lawyers Malik Tariq Mahmood Noon and Sohail Satti submitted the necessary bail bonds for her release. The release order stated that if the accused is not wanted in any other case, he should be released.
