Former MLA Anant Singh has got a big relief from Patna High Court. The court has acquitted him in the AK 47 and bullet proof case. The court acquitted him due to lack of evidence. In this case, Patna Civil Court has sentenced Anant Singh to 10 years of imprisonment. Anant Singh has been in jail since 2016. At present, there is no case pending against Anant Singh. Therefore, Anant Singh will come out of jail today or tomorrow.
Anant Singh came out on parole during the Lok Sabha elections. During this time, he gave full electoral support to JDU candidate Lallan Singh in his area. After this, Anant Singh said that he will soon be out permanently. Anant Singh is saying that he has been deliberately framed by IPS officer Lipi Singh. However, then Anant Singh was with the opposition. Now the political situation has changed. Anant Singh's wife Neelam Devi, who was an MLA of RJD, has now left the party and joined JDU.
During parole, Anant Singh himself helped JDU candidate Lallan Singh in the election, when voters of Anant Singh's own caste were angry with Lallan Singh. His election vehicle got stuck in Mokama and surrounding areas, which was saved by Anant Singh.
Mokama is considered to be Anant Singh's impregnable fort. Lalan Singh challenged him in the years 2005, 2010 and 2015. In the years 2010 and 2005, Lalan Singh contested the elections from Ram Vilas Paswan's party LJP. Once Lalan Singh was behind Anant Singh by just two thousand votes.
Anant Singh's criminal history
- Anant Kumar Singh has a criminal history spanning more than four decades. An affidavit filed ahead of the 2020 Bihar assembly elections shows that the first criminal case against him dates back to May 1979, when he was accused of murdering others. However, a chargesheet was never filed.
- According to the affidavit, Anant Singh had 39 cases registered against him. However, the number is higher as per Patna High Court documents, which state that there were 52 cases against him. In total, he was convicted in only two cases. One in 2015 and the other in 2019.
- In 2015, Patna police raided his house following a kidnapping-murder case. During the raid, police found six empty magazines of an INSAS rifle, a bulletproof jacket and some blood-stained clothes. The next day, the body of one of the victims, Putush Yadav, was found in Anant Singh's native village Nadwan.
- In 2019, Patna police raided his residence on the morning of August 16 and recovered an AK-47 and a hand grenade from him. However, he initially managed to evade arrest and later surrendered before a local court in Delhi a week later.
