Mumbai, 23 February (HS). Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra and former Lok Sabha Speaker Manohar Joshi died in the early hours of today (Friday) at PD Hinduja Hospital here. He breathed his last at the age of 86. The family has said that he was admitted here after suffering a heart attack.
PD Hinduja Hospital had issued a statement on Thursday saying that Joshi is seriously ill. He has been kept in ICU. Veteran Shiv Sena leader Joshi was admitted to the same hospital in May last year also after brain hemorrhage. Joshi was the Chief Minister of the state from 1995 to 1999. He became the first leader from undivided Shiv Sena to hold the top post in the state. He was also elected as a Member of Parliament and was the Speaker of the Lok Sabha from 2002 to 2004.
