Former Deputy Chief Minister Kamla Beniwal passes away. He was ill for a long time. He was undergoing treatment at Fortis Hospital in Jaipur. Kamla Beniwal, Governor of Gujarat and 7-time MLA, has made a deep impact on the people of Rajasthan. When he was the Governor of Gujarat, he had differences with the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi on many issues, which were much discussed. Kamla Beniwal also held the post of minister in the Gehlot government. He was a senior Congress politician. He has also been the Governor of Gujarat as well as Tripura and Mizoram. He held many important positions in the Congress government of Rajasthan.

On 27 November 2009, Kamla Beniwal was appointed the Governor of Gujarat. Earlier, the Central Government had appointed him as the Governor of Tripura. When Narendra Modi became the Governor of Gujarat, he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. There were differences of opinion with him on many issues. In which there was a lot of discussion on the issue of appointment of Lokayukta. Later, as soon as Modi became PM, Kamla Beniwal was removed from the post of Governor.
