Anshuman Gaekwad: Former Indian cricketer and Baroda veteran Anshuman Gaikwad has been battling blood cancer for the last one year. He is currently in London. And he is also struggling on the financial front to complete the very expensive treatment of blood cancer. Such clarification has been given by former Indian cricketer Sandeep Patil.
Former players presented before the board
Some former players including Sandeep Patil and Dilip Vengsarkar have applied to the BCCI to get financial help for Anshuman Gaikwad's blood cancer treatment. Patil wrote in his column in a media, 'I met Gaikwad some time ago at King's College Hospital in London. Then Anshuman himself talked about this.' Patil expressed hope that the BCCI will pay attention to our request and make arrangements so that Gaikwad gets financial help as soon as possible.
He has scored two centuries in Tests
India's one-time superstar cricketer Anshuman Gaekwad played 40 Tests and 15 ODIs from 1975 to 1987. He scored 1985 runs in 40 Tests with the help of two centuries and 10 half-centuries and took two wickets. While in 15 ODIs, he scored 269 runs and took one wicket at the score of 2. He also took charge as the head coach of the Indian team. He played domestic cricket for Baroda and also coached Gujarat's Ranji Trophy team.
