Raipur, 12 September (HS). Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Baghel reached Central Jail today (Thursday) afternoon to meet businessman Suryakant Tiwari who is in jail in the coal levy scam case. Bhupesh Baghel could not meet Suryakant Tiwari in jail. Bhupesh told that he had applied to the jail superintendent that he wanted to meet Suryakant Tiwari, but the superintendent refused to meet him saying that he had to take permission from above. Expressing displeasure over this, Baghel said, “What does permission from above mean? There was permission to meet the lawyer, but I was not allowed to meet Suryakant Tiwari. He met MLA Devendra Yadav in jail. After the meeting, the former Chief Minister made serious allegations against EOW Chief and Raipur IG Amresh Mishra. He said that he will also write a letter to the Chief Minister and the Chief Justice in this matter and demand action.
Accused Suryakant Tiwari has given a written complaint to the special judge of Raipur Competent Court through his lawyer that when the lawyer went to the jail for meeting, the applicant told that he was called to the jail superintendent's office on Sunday, 8 September. When Suryakant Tiwari reached there, the ACB chief was sitting alone there. The ACB chief looked at him and said, you have been fooling us during the 14-day remand. It is better that you say that you have given money to Bhupesh through Saumya Chaurasia. After this allegation, Bhupesh reached Central Jail to meet him.
While talking to journalists after the meeting in jail, former Chief Minister Baghel said that IG Amresh Mishra had illegally reached the jail to interrogate Suryakant Tiwari. He pressurized Suryakant Tiwari to speak against me. He intimidated him and threatened to implicate him under conspiracy. Suryakant Tiwari has said many serious things in the application given to the court. This shows that there is no such thing as democracy. Bhupesh Baghel said that, I had come to the jail to meet MLA Devendra Yadav and Suryakant Tiwari. But I was not allowed to meet Suryakant Tiwari. Raipur IG has tried to threaten Suryakant who is in jail. He has been threatened to be destroyed if he does not take my name. That is why I had reached the jail to meet Suryakant Tiwari. I will write a letter to the Chief Justice of the High Court and the Supreme Court regarding this matter. I will also write a letter to the Chief Minister and inform him about the incident.
