Former block chief Lalit Kaushik sentenced to 10 years, fined Rs 56 thousand


Moradabad, 23 February (HS). Moradabad's Additional District and Sessions Judge number five Gyanendra Singh Yadav's court on Friday sentenced BJP leader and former block chief Lalit Kaushik to 10 years in prison in the case of hostage-taking and assault of a labourer. Along with this, a fine of Rs 56 thousand has also been imposed. Former block chief is also the mastermind of CA Shwetabh Tiwari murder case, young sports businessman Kushank Gupta murder case and former block chief BJP leader Anuj Chaudhary murder case. Accused Lalit is currently lodged in Balrampur District Jail.

Om Prakash, a brick kiln laborer resident of Mundhapande police station area, had filed a case in Mundhapande police station on March 25, 2023. In which she had told that Lalit Kaushik Advocate, resident of Deendayal Nagar of Police Station Civil Line area, Satish Singh, resident of Mundhapande, Shivkumar, the head husband of Mundhapande, had kidnapped her and taken her hostage. After this, he beat him and threatened to kill him. The hearing of this case took place in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge number five Gyanendra Singh Yadav.

Assistant District Government Advocate Kaushal Gupta said that in this case, the prosecution witnesses testified against Lalit Kaushik and told the court how Lalit Kaushik had taken a laborer hostage and threatened to kill him. In the case, history-sheeter Lalit Kaushik was sentenced to ten years' imprisonment and a fine of Rs 56 thousand was also imposed. After the sentencing, Lalit Kaushik has been sent back to Balrampur jail in judicial custody. A total of nine cases are registered against Lalit Kaushik. In this, 3 cases are registered in Civil Lines police station, 4 in Mundhapande police station and 2 in Majhola police station.
