Mumbai: Former Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) scientist Vinayak Kolvankar has mysteriously disappeared after leaving his house in Bandra. A special police team has been formed to trace him, an official said.
A reward of Rs 10,000 has been announced for anyone providing information about 76-year-old Vinayak Kolvankar.
Nirmalnagar Police Station Inspector Ramesh Khilare said that Kolvankar, who lived in Bandra's New MIG Colony, was suffering from dementia. He has been missing since September 5. His wife Vaishali said in the complaint that husband Vinayak had gone out of the house to buy flowers but did not return.
In the CCTV footage, Vinayak can be seen boarding the train at Bandra station and getting off at Santacruz station. He roamed around there for a while and then returned to Bandra by another train. Finally, Vinayak walked out of the station at Bandra (West).
A special team of 10 policemen has been formed to search for him. A reward of Rs 10,000 has also been announced for the informer. Inspector Khilare said, we are searching hospitals, railway stations and all other possible places.
Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and Dr. Anil are said to have worked with Kakodkat.
