Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Khaleda Zia taken to hospital | News India

Dhaka, September 12 (HS). Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) President and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia was taken to the capital's Evercare Hospital last night due to serious physical ailments. This information has been given in the news of the country's leading Bangla newspaper (English version) Prothom Alo, quoting her personal physician Zahid Hussain. Dr. Hussain is also a member of the BNP Standing Committee.

Veteran leader Khaleda Zia's personal physician Zahid Hossain said she was taken to the hospital at around 1:40 am on Wednesday. Earlier, BNP leader Khaleda's chief spokesperson Shamsuddin Didar issued a press release. It said Khaleda Zia will be taken to the hospital for some important medical tests. She returned home on the evening of August 21 after being in the hospital for one and a half months. The BNP has said that she may be taken abroad for treatment.

Former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia has been suffering from various diseases including liver cirrhosis, arthritis, diabetes, eye, kidney, lung and heart disease for a long time. She underwent a successful operation on June 23 this year. After the diagnosis of liver cirrhosis in November 2021, doctors advised the 79-year-old former prime minister to be taken abroad for treatment. Her family repeatedly appealed to the government in this regard. But the then Sheikh Hasina government ignored it. The day after the fall of the Awami League government, President Mohammad Shahabuddin ordered the release of Khaleda Zia. Her personal physician said that she could not be taken abroad then because her condition was not suitable for travel.
