Forgot to switch off the button of the gas stove; fire broke out while lighting a matchstick; death of burnt girl

Bijpur (Sonbhadar): A girl died after getting burnt in a fire caused by cooking gas in Tola Sevakkand of Jarha village. The incident took place on Thursday afternoon while the girl died during treatment at BHU on Friday morning. According to the information, Anshika Kumari, daughter of Santosh Sharma, resident of Sevakand, had gone to the kitchen to heat water. She started lighting the gas stove with the lighter, but when the lighter did not light the gas stove, she went to the match shop.

Meanwhile she forgot to switch off the gas stove. Which slowly filled the entire kitchen with gas as she returned and lit the match. The gas accumulated in the kitchen caught fire, causing severe burns. Hearing the noise the family members reached the spot.

He was immediately taken to Singrauli Hospital in Baidhan, Madhya Pradesh. Where the doctors saw his condition as serious and referred him to BHU. The girl’s uncle Basant Sharma said that she died during treatment in BHU on Friday morning. As soon as the news of death was heard, a wave of mourning ran among the family members. The villagers consoled the crying family members.

Firefighter’s advice, take these precautions

    • Immediately inform the fire department and agency about leakage from LPG cylinder.
    • If gas leaks from the cylinder, open the kitchen windows and doors.
    • In case of such an incident, do not light lighter or matchstick, do not use electrical appliances.
    • While changing the cylinder, get the delivery man to check whether there is any leakage.
    • Keep checking the cylinder pipe, burner and stove from time to time.
  • In case of fire in the cylinder, try to cover it with sack etc.
