New Delhi, September 19 (HS). India has an impeccable track record of complying with international obligations on export of military and dual-use goods, rejecting a report by news agency Reuters. The news agency had claimed that India's military products are reaching Ukraine, which is currently in conflict with Russia.
The official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, while responding to media queries, said that the Reuters report is speculative and misleading. It suggests a violation by India whereas there is no such thing and hence it is false and mischievous.
He further said that India is making its defence exports keeping in mind its international obligations on non-proliferation and based on its own strong legal and regulatory framework, which involves a holistic assessment of relevant criteria including end-user obligations and certification.
Notably, Reuters agency had claimed that artillery shells sold by Indian arms manufacturers were being shipped to Ukraine by European customers and that despite protests from Moscow, New Delhi has not intervened to stop the trade.
