For the first time, so many dead bodies were seen together in the mortuary of Ghatkopar.

Mumbai: More than 14 people lost their lives when a wobbly hoarding near a petrol pump in Ghatkopar collapsed due to strong winds. The bodies were brought to the mortuary near Rajawadi Hospital. Police were deployed to control the crowd of relatives who had gathered to collect the bodies of their relatives.

A mortuary employee, who was on duty from Monday night till this morning, claimed that this is the first time that he has seen so many bodies in a single day and from a single accident in a mortuary. Most people die due to head injuries. Although some people who came to fill petrol in their bike wearing helmets were saved because of the helmet, but they suffered injuries on other parts of the body.

In this petrol pump located near the Eastern Express Highway, car driver P.B. Jadhav had come to fill CNG. While standing in the vehicle queue, he was crushed by a falling hoarding and died instantly.

Jadhav's brother said loudly that if my brother had stood two feet behind, we would not have had to come today to collect his body. Jadhav was the sole earning member of the house. Now his wife and two small children became destitute.

People stood outside the mortuary for three to four hours to collect the bodies of their relatives. After the post-mortem was completed, the police constable asked for his name, then his relatives came and took possession of the body and took it in the hearse. There were many ambulances and dead bodies parked on the road to Rajawadi Hospital, which often resulted in traffic jam.

A 24-year-old youth named Bharat Rathod, resident of Ghatkopar, works as a medicine delivery man. A relative of Bharat, who met with the accident when he had stopped to fill petrol in his bike, said he was the sole breadwinner at home. Mother died of corona. While the father is undergoing treatment due to being seriously ill. This tragedy of Gozari has spoiled the condition of the house by making a promising young man its victim.
