Rural Education: There are about 30 houses in Nizampur village of Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh. All these people are from the Dalit community. There is a lot of education here. For the first time in this village, someone has passed 10th standard. Who has lit the torch against this darkness. 15 -year -old Ramsevak alias Ramkeval passed the 10th examination from the UP board.

Studied despite family responsibilities

This journey to pass 10th standard for Ramsevak was not easy. He was the eldest son of the family, so he had the responsibility of running the family. Along with this, he also had to bear the expenses of his studies. But he completed his studies along with work without being afraid of such a big responsibilities.

‘During the wedding season I used to walk with lights on my head at night’

Ramsevak says, “During the wedding season, I used to carry lights on my head in the procession at night.” In return I used to get 200-300 rupees. When there was no marriage, someone else would do more work. Whatever money he has. I used it to buy books and pay school fees. I had deposited Rs 2100 as fees in 10th grade.

During the conversation, Ramsevak said, “After burning the wedding lamp, after returning home late at night, I used to sit under the roof and study.” During his studies, Ramsevak also had to listen to taunts and insults.

I first wore shoes when DM Had called me to meet.

Ramsevak was called to meet Barabanki DM Shashank Tripathi after passing 10th standard for the first time in the village. But he had neither proper clothes nor shoes to wear. Political Inter College teachers gifted clothes and shoes to Ramsevak. This was the first time Ramsevak wore shoes. DM Shashank Tripathi honored Ramsevak and waived the fees for his further studies.
