Fatehgarh: For the first time, five people who were bitten by dogs in Sirhind have received compensation of Rs 10,000 each. This compensation amount has been given by Sirhind Municipal Council to a woman Anita Dev, a man Sandeep and three other persons living in Sirhind city. A few months ago, Anita Devi and Sandeep were bitten by a dog, after which now on the orders of Punjab-Haryana, this compensation will be issued to many other victims also. On the instructions of the High Court, a committee has been formed under the chairmanship of DC to give compensation for the killing of dogs and other wild animals.
According to the High Court's decision, a compensation of Rs 10,000 will be given for each tooth mark caused by a dog bite. The flesh is extracted from the skin, every 0.2 cm wound will cost at least Rs 20 thousand. The High Court made it clear that the State would be primarily responsible for paying compensation.
According to the order issued by the High Court, on receipt of complaint of any incident or accident caused by animals (stray/wild/domestic animals), the SHO of the concerned police station will have to file a Daily Diary Report (DDR).
