Portugal, Real Madrid and Al-Nasr star striker Cristiano Ronaldo has been given the special honour of becoming the highest goalscorer in the history of the UEFA Champions League tournament.

Ronaldo was presented with the UEFA All-Time Top Goal Scorer award by President Aleksander Ceferin at the opening ceremony of the Champions League 36-team league stage at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. Ronaldo has scored 140 goals for Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus in the Champions League. The Portugal star also became the first footballer to play in three Champions League finals in the last 18 years. He scored in 11 consecutive Champions League matches and this record is unlikely to be broken. He is a five-time player of the season in the league. In 2008, he secured his first championship with Manchester United.
