Kanpur, 13 November (HS). Foot and mouth disease in animals is a viral disease. The effect of this disease is more in cattle animals. It is very important to get treatment at the right time. This information was given by animal husbandry scientist Dr. Shashikant on the occasion of the conclusion of two-day training at Agricultural Science Center Dilip Nagar, operated under Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur on Wednesday.
He told that due to the effects of this disease in animals, there is excessive salivation from the mouth, emergence of (rope like) blisters on the tongue and soles which later burst and turn into wounds.
The surface of the tongue coming out and blisters appearing on the snout. Wounds between the hooves, causing the animal to limp or stop walking. These are its main symptoms.
There is no specific treatment for this disease, yet their proper care includes treatment based on symptoms, antibiotics, medicines to stop pain and fever (analgesics), washing of mouth and hoof ulcers etc. with antibiotic solution, supply of soft and digestible food. And keeping sick animals in one place etc. can be done. Vaccination with polyvalent foot-and-mouth vaccine is the only appropriate solution for effective prevention of this disease.
Doctor Kant told that the vaccine for this disease must be administered every year at an interval of 6 months, mainly from January to February and July to August. So that our animals can be saved from this disease.
