New Delhi: Musa Zameer, Foreign Minister of Maldives, a super-strategic archipelago located in the middle of the Indian Ocean, has visited India. Relations between India and Maldives have been going very bad for some time now, in such a situation, India's Foreign Minister Dr. S. reached Jameer to improve the relations between the two countries. Jaishankar welcomed him warmly. After this, the foreign ministers of both the countries met their respective delegations. Also had one to one conversation. During that time the interests of both the countries and other sensitive issues were discussed.
The most important thing is that Jaishankar did not make any mention of the pro-China stance adopted by Mohammed Moizu after assuming power in September last year. Instead, he put forward India's 'neighbourhood first' policy at the center of the talks. Along with this, Jaishankar reminded Musa Zameer of the help India provided to his country during every crisis and said that when Maldives was in need, India was the first to come to help it. He also said that through this India has shown itself to be its neighbour. Also gave analytical information about the SAGAR scheme launched by India. (SAGAR = Security and development for all in the region)
India sent 88 elite troops to Maldives to monitor the security of Maldivian airports and important ports from China. President Muizu gave the last date of May 10 to return him to India. India has already withdrawn its soldiers. On the other hand, as Muizzoo's stance has dealt a huge economic blow to Maldives and the number of tourists from India has declined by 58 percent, Maldives is now keen to improve relations with India.
