Follow these tips to avoid accidents while riding a bike in the rain

Monsoon has arrived in India. The situation is such that torrential rains are falling in many parts of the country, due to which normal life has been disrupted. Driving becomes very difficult in such a situation. Drivers should note that road accidents increase during the rainy season. And if you are riding your bike in the rain, being prepared to deal with wet roads and low visibility will help a lot.

Bike and scooter riders face the most trouble during the rainy season. The roads have become slippery due to which road accidents are increasing. Sometimes even small mistakes become the cause of a big accident. Here we are telling you some important tips to ensure your safety on the road during the rainy season.

Keep the speed slow

Do not drive at high speed during rainy season. Because the traction on the road reduces in the rain, which also reduces your control over the vehicle. Be it a motorcycle or a scooter. Not only this, if sudden brakes are applied while driving, the brakes do not work effectively. Visibility also reduces in heavy rain. Therefore, keep the speed of your two-wheeler below 40 kmph during rain.

Stop if there is water on the road

During the rainy season, water gets accumulated on the roads at many places. Due to which big potholes are often not visible on the roads. This problem is more during night time. Therefore, do not drive where there is water. Not only this, if there is excess water, there is a risk of water entering the exhaust, due to which the vehicle may stop.

Wear finger wipers

Nowadays finger wipers are coming in the market which help in cleaning the water droplets on the helmet's visor. Finger wipers are not very expensive. Usually their price starts from Rs 100. It is difficult to see the drops falling on the helmet's visor (glass) in the rain. Nothing is visible which increases the risk of accident.

Wearing a helmet is mandatory

Do not ride a bike or scooter without a helmet, even if you are going somewhere nearby. Wear a helmet especially on rainy days. During rain, the helmet's visor prevents raindrops from falling on the eyes, which makes it easier to ride a bike. Apart from this, the helmet also keeps you safe. Not wearing a helmet is not only punishable but also a threat to one's life.

Maintain proper distance

Always maintain a proper distance from the vehicle ahead during rain. Especially vehicles which are running with overload. Traction on the road is less in the rain due to which brakes cannot be applied at the right time. Apart from this, always keep the headlights of the vehicle on.
