Winter has strengthened its grip across the country. Dense fog, rain and cold wave continue to wreak havoc in many parts of North India. Snowfall in the hilly areas has further increased the cold. The Meteorological Department has indicated that the cold may increase further in the coming days, due to which there is little chance of getting relief. People’s problems may increase further due to rain and fog in Delhi and surrounding areas.
Double attack of cold in Delhi
The oppression of winter continues in the capital Delhi. The Meteorological Department has said that the cold will increase with rain in Delhi in the next few days. The double attack of dense fog and rain can increase the chill. Today (January 11, 2025), the maximum temperature of Delhi is expected to be 20 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to be 6 degrees Celsius.
NCR areas like Noida and Ghaziabad will also be affected by cold. The minimum temperature in Noida today may drop to 8 degrees Celsius, while in Ghaziabad it is expected to reach 5 degrees Celsius.
How will the weather be in Punjab and Haryana?
Along with cold, rain and fog will also be seen in Punjab and Haryana.
- Punjab:
The weather department has predicted dense fog and light rain in the state. The period of fog will continue here between 12th and 14th January. There is a possibility of further drop in temperature during this period. - Haryana:
Yellow alert of dense fog has been issued in Haryana today. Fog will remain in effect here for the next few days, and orange alert has been implemented from January 12 to 14. There is a possibility of increase in cold with light rain in Chandigarh also.
Fog and rain wreak havoc in Uttar Pradesh
Cold has affected life in many districts of Uttar Pradesh. Yellow alert for rain and fog has been issued in the state.
- Change in temperature:
The maximum temperature is likely to increase by 3-5 degrees Celsius in the next four days. However, after this the temperature may drop by 2-3 degrees Celsius.
There will not be much change in the minimum temperature, but after 4 days there will be a decline in it too.
Due to cold wave in Lucknow and other cities, people are forced to remain confined to their homes. Road and rail traffic has also been affected due to fog and cold.
Winter havoc continues in Bihar
The severe cold in Bihar has made life difficult.
- Frost and strong winds:
Frost falling in the morning and strong winds have further increased the melting. A drop in minimum temperatures has been recorded in cities like Patna, Darbhanga, Saharsa and Araria. - Temperature conditions:
The minimum temperature in Patna is 9 degrees Celsius, while in Samastipur it has reached 5.1 degrees Celsius. Samastipur remains the coldest place in the state.
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for North and South Bihar. There is a possibility of light rain in Buxar, Rohtas and Bhabua on January 12.
Snowfall and cold spell in hilly states
Snowfall and rain continue in hilly states like Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir.
- Himachal Pradesh:
There will be a double attack of cold and rain here. The chill has increased further as the minimum mercury has reached minus. - Uttarakhand:
There is a forecast of rain and thunder here today and tomorrow. Due to snowfall, the cold in the mountains has reached record levels.
What is the future estimate?
The Meteorological Department has said that the effect of cold wave and cold will continue in North India for the next few days. Fog and rain will further increase the cold, which may disrupt traffic and normal life.
