Kabul: Since the beginning of this year, Afghanistan has been surrounded by many natural disasters. In February, 25 people died in landslides caused by heavy snowfall, while in March, about 60 people died due to continuous rains for 3 weeks. At least 33 people died in floods yesterday as torrential rains resumed in Afghanistan barely a day after the outbreak. While 27 suffered serious injuries.
Giving this information, Taliban spokesperson Abdullah Janat Sack said that more than 600 houses have been either destroyed or heavily damaged due to floods in many other provinces including the capital Kabul. More than 200 milch cows have also been affected by the floods. 800 hectares of land has been washed away and more than 85 km of roads have been destroyed.
He further said that West Farah, Herat, South Zabul and Kandahar provinces have suffered the most damage due to heavy rains.
Looking at the speed of the winds, the Indian Meteorological Department has said that there is still no chance of escape from the storm, with heavy rains still expected in most of the 34 provinces of the country in the coming days.
