Five scientists of Lucknow University have been included in the top two percent global scientists in the world database maintained by Stanford University in the United States. The eminent scientists include Professor Amritanshu Shukla, Dr. CR Gautam, Dr. Roli Verma from the Department of Physics, while Professor Abhinav Kumar and Dr. Vinod Kumar Vashisht from the Department of Chemistry. Professor Amritanshu Shukla is in the limelight due to his exemplary research work on theoretical nuclear physics and thermal energy storage.
More than 200 of his research papers have been published till date, of which around 75 are published in international research journals. He also has 10 books to his credit, published by reputed international publishers. Dr. C.R. Gautam is working in the field of ceramic materials and has successfully developed novel materials for biological applications including dentistry and bone implants! While Dr. Roli Verma worked on optical sensors based on plasmonic and photonic nanostructures and films, which brought him to the top. His research work has been aimed at benefiting the environment and human health.
At the same time, Prof. Abhinav Kumar's work has been in the field of transitional metals, polymers (CPs), metal-organic structures (MOFs) and dye-sensitized solar cells. This type of research has many uses in the field of material science, in which drug manufacturing and energy sector are particularly notable. Dr. Vashishtha from Chemistry is an active researcher in the field of separation science, macrocyclic complexes, chiral separation, bioanalytical chemistry, which have special applications in the field of environmental science. Vice Chancellor Prof. Alok Kumar Rai congratulated these eminent scientists and expressed hope that we will continue to fly the flag of Lucknow University high with the distinguished achievements of students and teachers.
The scientists in the database are classified into different scientific fields and 174 subfields using the established Science-Metrics classification system. The data for their entire careers is updated until the end of August 2024 and the most recent year's data reflects the number of citations received in the academic year 2023-24.
