Dumka (Jharkhand), March 05 (HS). In the case of assault, robbery and gang rape of a Spanish tourist bike rider couple, Hansdiha police arrested five other accused and sent them to jail in judicial custody on Tuesday. The arrested accused include Babuji Soren, Budhlal Marandi, Bablu Hembram, Basis Murmu and Sameer Kisku. All are residents of Kurmahat police station area.
Dumka SP Pitamber Singh Kherwar gave this information in a press conference on Tuesday. He told that in the matter of rape of a foreign woman, the police had registered a case under section 395 and 376 D of Indian Penal Code under case number 18/24 and started investigation. Three accused have already been arrested in the case. Today five other accused were arrested and sent to jail. A total of eight accused have been arrested so far in the case. The police will record the statement of the victim couple under section 164 in the presence of the magistrate and punish the culprits as soon as possible under the fast track.
SP said that Special Branch, Forensic Team and CID team were engaged in investigation at the spot. The High Court has also summoned the reply from the DGP in the matter on March 7. During the investigation, a watch, foreign silver coin and Bangladeshi dollar looted from the foreign couple were recovered.
Actually, the victim woman has gone on a world tour by bike with her husband. After entering India from Bangladesh, it was going to Nepal via Dumka. On the evening of March 1, the Spanish couple stopped for the night by pitching a tent in Kurmahat of Hansdiha police station. Meanwhile, the accused entered the tent, tied up the husband, took the woman out of the tent and committed gang rape. They also assaulted the couple and looted foreign currency. Hansdiha police station, which was out on patrol late at night, saw the couple on the roadside and admitted the woman to the hospital.
