Five IPL franchises Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants have bid to buy teams in the England and Wales Cricket Board's The Hundred tournament.
GMR Group and Manchester United club co-owner Avraham Glazer have also made a bid to buy the team. The last date for submitting bids to buy the team was October 18. The ECB invited bids for a 49 percent stake in each of the eight franchises. In this way the ECB has secured a large share for itself, due to which its rights over the tournament will remain intact. Initially many IPL franchises showed interest in buying the team but not all of them bid.
