Five dozen houses burnt to ashes in massive fire, loss of property worth Rs 50 lakh


Saharsa/Supaul, February 29 (HS). Around 60 houses were burnt to ashes due to a sudden fire on Thursday afternoon in Ward No. 10 located in Ghuran Panchayat of Sadar police station area.

It is estimated that property worth Rs 50 lakh was burnt due to the fire. Villager Dr. Sajjad told that at around 03 o'clock in the afternoon, the spark emanating from the house of Mohd. Haider immediately engulfed hundreds of houses. The fire was brought under control after a lot of effort by the fire department officials who reached the information of the villagers. The reasons for this could not be clearly determined.

SDM Indraveer Kumar said that there is information about 60 houses being burnt. Employees have been sent to the site. Assistance will be provided to the victims. CO Alka Kumari said that after inspecting the site, polythene will be given to the victims immediately. The damage is being assessed. There is chaos among the people whose houses have been burnt.
