On the very first day of the new year 2026, inflation has given its first gift. Government oil companies have increased the prices of commercial LPG cylinders by a huge Rs 111.
This new rate has come into effect today, i.e. from January 1, 2026.
What does this mean and how will it affect your pocket?
First of all, understand that this increase has happened only on 19 kg blue colored commercial cylinders. This is the cylinder which is used in hotels, restaurants, tea shops, dhabas and other food stalls.
So now when these shopkeepers will find the cylinder costlier, it is possible that they may also increase the prices of their goods. That means, outside food and tea and snacks may become a little expensive for you in the New Year.
What is the new rate in your city? (Commercial Cylinder)
| City | Old Rate (₹) | New Rate (₹) | How much increase (₹) |
| Delhi | 1580.50 | 1691.50 | 111.00 |
| Kolkata | 1684.00 | 1795.00 | 111.00 |
| Mumbai | 1531.50 | 1642.50 | 111.00 |
| Chennai | 1739.50 | 1849.50 | 110.00 |
This increase is also surprising because only last month, in December, the prices were reduced marginally by Rs 10-11.
Biggest relief: Domestic cylinder prices did not increase!
Amidst this inflation shock, there is also a very big and relief news. There has been no change in the prices of 14.2 kg red colored domestic cylinders used in homes.
That means, your kitchen budget is not going to deteriorate at the moment. Domestic cylinder will still be available in Delhi for ₹853 only.
