UK First Sikh Court: The country's first Sikh court has started for the Sikh community living in Britain. The Sikh community can take recourse to this court for their family disputes and internal conflicts and the court will try to resolve them.
According to media reports, the court was inaugurated with religious chants in a ceremony organized in a London hotel. Advocate Baldeep Singh, one of the founders of this court, said, 'The objective behind starting the court is to help Sikh families by resolving disputes and disputes among the Sikh community.'
This court will be operated personally. There will be 30 magistrates and 15 judges and most of them will be women. His job will be to resolve the dispute between both the parties who have reached the court.
Before the establishment of the court, discussions were held with the organizations of the Sikh community and it was decided that cases related to domestic violence, gambling and drugs would be heard in this court. There must be agreement between both the parties for hearing in this court. If both the parties are not willing to settle even after the hearing, they will be free to resolve their dispute using any other legal option. The court proceedings will continue through video conferencing as well as in the presence of both the parties. The purpose of this Sikh Court is not to encroach on the authority of the traditional courts of Britain or to create problems in its functioning.
