Paschim Medinipur, 08 April (HS). A firing incident took place in Kharagpur on Monday morning in the atmosphere of Lok Sabha elections. Trinamool councilor's husband Ranjit Sakre has been injured in this incident. He is the husband of Anjana Sakre, Trinamool councilor of Ward No. 15, Kharagpur.
According to the information received, Ranjeet was returning home with his daughter this morning. Then near the New Settlement Office the miscreants blocked his way and opened fire but he narrowly escaped. He was also beaten up before firing.
As soon as information about the firing was received, the police immediately reached the spot and Ranjeet was admitted to the hospital. At present he is undergoing treatment in the hospital. Police are investigating whether the attack was political or related to some other dispute.
