Fire in Hamirpur destroys 12 bighas of crops in Gahatoli

Hamirpur, 17 April (HS). On Wednesday, twelve and a half bigha crops of four farmers were destroyed due to a fire caused by an electrical short circuit in village Gahtauli of Sumerpur police station area. The fire was brought under control with great difficulty.

A sudden fire broke out at 5 pm in the fields of Rajaram s/o Shripal, Indrapal and Kamta Prasad in Bhamaura Mauza of village Ghatauli due to the spark emanating from the electrical wires. In no time, 7 bighas of Rajaram, 2 bighas of Ravind, 2 and a half bighas of Kamta Prasad were destroyed. Twelve and a half acres of crop was burnt to ashes. The fire is estimated to cause a loss of around Rs 2.5 lakh. The farmers together extinguished the fire, the fire brigade machine also reached and completely extinguished the fire.

Pipes worth lakhs of rupees burnt in fire

In the village Ingohata of Sumerpur area, a fire broke out in the fields of the former block chief due to the spark emanating from the transformer installed in the tube well, and hundreds of wheat straw along with the pipes laid in the fields for irrigation were burnt to ashes. The fire brigade squad reached and controlled the fire. On Wednesday, around 1 pm, a fire broke out due to spark from the transformer installed in the tube well of former block chief Shubhakaran Singh Parihar, resident of Ingohata. Due to the fire, 100 Hasti pipes laid in the fields for irrigation were burnt to ashes and 40 bighas of wheat straw was burnt to ashes. There has been a loss of about Rs 2 lakh due to the fire. The fire brigade squad reached the spot and brought the fire under control.

Wheat stalks caught fire, hundreds of bighas of stubble and standing crops turned to ashes

Wheat stalks caught fire in the fields of Umri village on Wednesday afternoon, in which along with the standing crop, the stalks of the harvested crop of the nearby field were also burnt to ashes. Village head Abhinay Kumar said that the fire had started suddenly. There are speculations that some passerby might have smoked and thrown the beedi or cigarette. Perhaps that might have caused the fire. In the fire, three bighas of Kalicharan's standing crop and about five hundred bighas of wheat stubble in the fields were burnt, while the stubble of the crop harvested in nearby Fakira's field was also burnt to ashes. A small fire engine jeep went from Biwaan to extinguish the fire but its water was not enough, after which another vehicle came and extinguished the fire.
