Fire broke out in Korba Visakhapatnam Express, three AC coaches completely burnt

Korba, 04 August (HS). A fire broke out in the 18517 Korba-Visakhapatnam Express at Visakhapatnam railway station on Sunday (August 4) morning, damaging an empty coach of the train and burning three coaches to ashes. However, there were no casualties in this accident.

The train reached platform number 1 at the station at 6.30 am on August 4. According to the information, the coach was taken to platform number four for maintenance, where at around 10 am a fire broke out in B-7 coach and it was noticed by someone, who informed the railway personnel. Due to the fire, thick smoke started coming out of the B-7 coach. It is being told that the fire spread to B-6 and M-1 coaches. The affected coaches were separated from the train and taken away.

The fire service personnel brought the fire under control. Railway officials, Government Railway Police, Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel rushed to the spot and broke the windows of the third AC (B-7) coach. Police officers and personnel from fire tenders and city police also reached the station. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Fire broke out in the rear portion of the coach

Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Saurabh Prasad said the train arrived at 6.30am and was later parked at platform number 4 for shifting to the coach maintenance depot. A Railway Protection Force (RPF) jawan on patrol duty at the station noticed smoke coming out of the B-7 coach and alerted the fire brigade and station staff. The fire was brought under control by 11.10am and the affected rake was evacuated as per procedures. The fire broke out in the rear portion of the coach.
