FIR against five people for attempting triple talaq and halala in Jaunpur

Jaunpur, 17 June (HS). On Monday, the city police station of the district registered a case against five people including the husband in the case of triple talaq and attempt of halala on the complaint of the victim woman. On Sunday night, the victim woman had lodged a complaint with the police.

Anjum Nisha, a resident of Kotwali's Mohalla Khwajagi Tola, was married to Mohammad Wajid, a resident of Tadtala, on July 2, 2015. Dowry was given as per the status but the in-laws started demanding fridge, AC, double bed and other things. The parents expressed their inability. On this, the in-laws sent the married woman back and started torturing her. Meanwhile, when she became pregnant, the in-laws forcibly gave her medicine and got her six-month old abortion done.

After this, she was beaten and thrown out. She came to her maternal home in the month of June. She also told her family about the torture being done by her in-laws. On 15th June the mother along with daughter, family and other relatives reached daughter's in-laws' house. Husband Mohammed Wajid gave triple Talaaq to his wife in front of everyone. The victim's mother and in-laws counselled her a lot. The husband had put this condition before his wife that if she marries his younger brother Mohammed Waris and gets Halala done, then he would perform Nikah with her. It is alleged that an attempt was made to force Halala on the woman. In this regard, the victim woman has filed a complaint against all her in-laws including her husband.

City Kotwal Mithilesh Kumar Mishra said that based on the woman's complaint, a case has been registered against five people including her husband. The police has started investigating the case.
