Financial autonomy to panchayats will increase the pace of development in villages: Kanwar Pal

Yamunanagar, July 4 (HS). Haryana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Kanwar Pal expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini for approving development works worth up to Rs 21 lakh to Sarpanchs without tender. He said that by providing administrative and financial autonomy to the grassroots government, our government has increased the pace of rural development.

Agriculture Minister Kanwar Pal was talking to journalists here on Thursday. He said that as per the resolution of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it is very important to strengthen the Panchayati Raj institutions in order to make India a developed nation by the year 2047. In this regard, the Haryana government is empowering the Panchayats by planning at the micro level. He said that the Chief Minister has also increased the monthly honorarium of the Safai Karamcharis posted in rural areas and the Nagarpalika Safai Karamcharis.

He said that the village government is a strong picture of democracy. To achieve the goal of Prime Minister Modi to make India a developed nation by the year 2047, it is also necessary for every village to be developed. He said that there will be no shortage of funds from the state government to speed up development in the village. He said that the previous governments used to avoid spending money for the development of the village. While the State Finance Commission grant for panchayats was Rs 600 crore before the year 2014, this amount of grant for Haryana has been increased to Rs 2968 crore. Not only this, Rs 7276.77 crore has been allocated for rural development in the budget for the financial year 2024-25, whereas during 2013-14 in the previous government, this amount was Rs 1898.48 crore.
