Fatehabad, 28 November (HS). A case of embezzlement of lakhs by an employee of a finance company working in collaboration with IndusInd Bank has come to light in Ratia. It is alleged that the employee collected the loan amount from the women and did not deposit it in the company. In this matter, the police have registered a case on Thursday on the complaint of the company manager and started investigation. In the complaint given to the police, Gobind Singh, a resident of village Bhindra in Sangrur district of Punjab, has said that he is a resident of Bharat Financial Inclusion Ltd. in Ratia. Works as a Manager in IndusInd Bank, Branch Ratia. His company has been appointed by IndusInd Bank as its Business Correspondent.
His bank provides assistance to women in rural and urban areas by giving them loans. Gagandeep Singh, resident of village Malwala, was working as field staff in his company for a long time, doing the work of money distribution and recovery. His company had given loans to women running self-help groups in cities and villages. Accused Gagandeep Singh, misusing his position, lied to 16 women on the pretext of sanctioning a big loan, took the money in cash along with the ongoing loan from some women, and took the money in the form of installments from some women and deposited it in the branch. Didn’t get it done.
On this some women asked him when their big loan would come. When he became suspicious about this, he interrogated the women. It was revealed that Gagandeep Singh had embezzled a huge amount of money in the company. After this, when the audit was conducted by the company, it was found that Gagandeep Singh had collected an amount of Rs 2 lakh 58 thousand 486 and kept it with himself instead of depositing it in the company. After this, when Gagandeep Singh was talked to, he refused to give this amount to the bank. On this, a complaint was lodged with the police by the manager. In this case, the police have registered a case against the accused Gagandeep Singh on charges of embezzlement and started investigation.
