After this, the Election Commission of Karnataka Final Voter List 2026 has been released. During this intensive vetting process, large scale deletion of names has been done across the state, due to which a huge decline of about 99.76 lakh has been recorded in the total number of voters. After this big change, now the total number of valid voters in Karnataka has reduced to 4,54,55,689 i.e. about 4.54 crores. This development is being considered very important from the point of view of election preparations and political equations. Let us know in detail what major changes and figures have been brought out in this new final voter list of Karnataka.
Nearly 1 crore voters left out of list after SIR process in Karnataka
The ‘Special Intensive Revision’ (SIR) campaign conducted in Karnataka under the instructions of the Election Commission of India completed its final phase on Tuesday, 27 October 2026. Before the start of this massive process, when the voter list was frozen on June 16, the total number of voters in the state was around 5.5 crore.
But as soon as the process of intensive investigation and verification began, discrepancies in the lists started coming to light. On August 24, when the initial draft list was released under this process, it was revealed that the names of about 19.48 percent i.e. 1.08 crore voters had been removed from the list. all these names Asddo That is, it was placed under Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate and other ineligible categories. As a result of this rigorous and transparent sorting done at the administrative level, names of approximately 99.76 lakh voters have been permanently excluded from this final list.
The largest share of names removed from the draft list were of those permanently transferred.
Analysis of data received from election authorities shows that the largest portion of the lakhs of voters removed from the draft list were citizens who had permanently shifted from their original place of residence to other places. About 65.45 lakh voters from this category alone were left out of the list, which constitutes about 11.8 percent of the total ASDDO list.
Additionally, people were also identified who were either no more (deceased voters) or whose names appeared in the lists of more than one polling station (duplicate entries). The main objective of this complete cleanliness drive was to ensure that there is no scope for any kind of fake voting or irregularities in the upcoming elections and the vote of every eligible citizen remains safe.
Voter list finally prepared after notice stage and objections
The election administration exercised utmost caution during the two-month long ‘Claims and Objections’ phase, which began in the last week of August. During this period, notices were issued to about 43.8 lakh people out of about 4.4 crore voters included in the draft list, for physical verification of their documents and addresses.
According to the information given by the officials, the number of people included in the final list after this stringent phase of notices was approximately 43.2 lakh out of 43.82 lakh, while after administrative scrutiny, the remaining approximately 61,867 voters were officially removed from the final list. Thus, after completion of strict scrutiny of all stages, the final and revised voter list of the state was published among the public on 27 October.
