Final voter list ready, election dates will be announced soon

Taking important steps regarding the preparations for Delhi Assembly elections, the State Election Commission has announced to publish the final voter list on Monday. After this, the election dates are likely to be announced soon. This time, under the special revision campaign, more than 4.85 lakh youth have applied to get their names registered in the voter list.

Door-to-door voter engagement campaign

The Election Commission had started a door-to-door campaign to connect voters from August 20, 2024. In this work, Booth Level Officer (BLO) conducted the campaign till October 18 to add new voters and update the old list. During this process:

• Those going out of the constituency or Delhi Voters’ names were removed.
• Duplicate Entries and Dead Voters Names of were also removed from the list.

After this a draft list was prepared, in which objections and suggestions were invited. After all the amendments, the final voter list will now be published on Monday.

The process of adding names will continue even after the final list.

However, the process of adding names to the voter list will continue even after the publication of the final list. The new applications that come will be added to the supplementary list. This process will ensure that no eligible voter is deprived of the right to vote.

Case of making voter ID with fake document

A case of making Voter ID card through fake documents has come to light in Uttam Nagar assembly constituency. The Election Commission had received a complaint in this regard. A woman had filled form number 6 to get a voter ID card and submitted a fake Aadhaar card and a copy of the electricity bill.

When the genuineness of the documents was discovered during the investigation, the Commission informed the concerned police station.

• Bindapur police station has registered a case in this matter on January 4 and started investigation.
• Earlier on December 31 also, a case was registered on a similar complaint.

The Election Commission has indicated strict action against those who make Voter ID cards through fake documents.

Efforts to ensure transparency in elections

The State Election Commission is working hard to make the voter list updated and error free. Removing fake voter ID cards and duplicate names will ensure that elections are fair and transparent.
