FIFA increases investment in football development to US$2.25 billion

Geneva, March 15 (HS). The FIFA Council unanimously approved the Annual Report 2023 and increased investment in football development to US$2.25 billion. The world football governing body announced this on Thursday.

FIFA confirmed that the budget for the 2023–2026 cycle is almost seven times greater than investment in development programs before 2016.

The annual report will be presented to the 74th FIFA Congress in Bangkok, Thailand on May 17, 2024 for final approval.

Congress will vote on the host of the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Bangkok. Let us tell you that Brazil, Belgium, Germany and Netherlands (joint bid), Mexico and United States (joint bid) are in the race to host the FIFA Women's World Cup 2027.

Furthermore, the FIFA Council also supported FIFA President Gianni Infantino's call to fight racism in football.
