Miz, April 27 (Hindustan Reporter) The Central Board of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has received the report on the preparations for the Paris Olympic Games. The world basketball governing body made the announcement here on Friday.
The Central Board meeting was held on Thursday at FIBA's headquarters, the Patrick Bauman House of Basketball. Reports from the men's and women's basketball competitions, the Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament and the 3×3 Universality Olympic Qualifying Tournament were presented at the meeting.
Preparations for the men's Olympic qualifying tournament and next year's Continental Cup continue, and the draw for the Women's Basketball World Cup 2026 pre-qualifying tournament was held here on Thursday. The pre-qualifying tournament will be held in Mexico and Rwanda between August 19 and 25, 2024. The 16 teams participating in the tournament have been divided into four groups of four teams each.
The Central Board gave the green light to amendments to be made to the official basketball rules, which will take effect from October 1, 2024, including correcting errors and withdrawing the head coach's challenge.
It also extended the current status of the two national federations of Russia and Belarus until the next Central Board meeting in December 2024.
